HCR Receives Remarkable Donation of 120-Acre Nicasio Horse Ranch!
RockRose Ranch, a 120-acre horse ranch just three miles down the road from our current facility, was gifted to Halleck Creek in March 2023 from Maja Kristin, a longtime horsewoman, impact philanthropist, attorney, and HCR donor.
Maja makes a difference for people and communities worldwide. Her lifework underscores a passion for bridging differences, engaging in creative problem-solving, and inspiring philanthropy to support worthwhile causes. Her donation of RockRose Ranch to HCR truly encompasses the values of her life’s work.
Maja’s gift will positively impact the lives of the individuals we currently serve, and so many more, as we are able to broaden our services and expand our reach as a direct result of receiving this new operations site. For this, we are forever grateful.
About RockRose Ranch:
RockRose Ranch has most recently been used as an equestrian training and boarding facility. The property features two barns, multiple paddocks, pastures, and five miles of private riding trails in the hills and redwood forests of West Marin. There is both a large main house and a guest house with the potential to be used as a community center, staff offices, and spaces for volunteer trainings and nonprofit events.
Being located on Nicasio Valley Road, the Ranch is more accessible by car while still fully encompassing that special something we all hold so strong in our hearts – the gorgeous Nicasio scenery.
What this means for Halleck Creek:
Programming at our current ranch will remain the same at this point in time. We are going to be exploring how to incorporate this new ranch into our programs, organization, and mission. This additional property will allow HCR to expand its programming, serve more riders and families, and inspire new collaborations with the larger nonprofit community. We are entering the process of strategic planning right now and will be working hard over the next few months to plan for HCR’s future.
Want to get involved?
First off, we are so excited to start this next chapter with you. As a part of our participant families, volunteer teams, generous donors, committed staff, or as brand new community members – building this new operations site with – and for – you all is going to be a truly fulfilling endeavor! Your continued stewardship of our organization and mission will plant the seeds of the future to come.
